The AWC at South Point Casino in Las Vegas has always been the highlight of my year because it is Vegas. The AWC is like a mini work vacation. I am not much of a gambler, but I appreciate the history that Vegas offers and the change of scenery from Texas. Every year I look forward in seeing my mom and making new memories; however this show for me was filled with mix emotions and a special kind of sadness.
I was thrilled to hear that the AWC offered a masters class this year. I have worked hard over the years building upper level dressage and WE horses. I have also enjoyed helping students succeed with their goals. After two years off of riding Carbon, I looked forward to riding my boy in the masters class. I did not care if we won or lost, I was happy to be back in the saddle on my boy doing what I love. As many of you know, I am very passion about this sport, but this year, I lost some of my passion and joy. The last two AWC shows were very special to me on a level that very few people could appreciate, but this year it took every ounce of my strength to get through this show emotionally speaking.
Over the last few years I have pondered and debated over tack and attire. The Dressage attire is pretty set forth and is well established; however, western attire not so much.. There are many ways you can dress western. You can dress as a field worker using scarfs and chinks or dress up like you are going to a wedding. I am sure you will notice that every video I am in has a different attire. This is because I could not decide on what I wanted to wear, (sounds like a chick problem). So this year, I am experimenting with a more Tombstone style dress. I think I am on the right path, but I think I will make some changes in this concept.
Oh and yes I made lots of happy memories spite my special type of sadness. I hope you enjoy this video. Overall I am happy with our performance, but we gave away some points that we shouldn’t have.
I would like to say:
Thank you to my mother and John Boucher for all the love and support they have given me over the years.
Thank you to the judges for there kind remarks and commons on the score sheets.
Thank you to Patty Carlson and Rebecca Algar for being so supportive and overall good friends.
Thank you to Kevin Kidder for the hard work putting on this show.
